The Apprentice Team

The Apprentice Team is a new program we are offering for dancers who are interested in more performance opportunities and want to dip their toes in the competition world to see what it’s like. This is a way for students to start off by adding a little more involvement to their schedule with less commitment. Members of the Apprentice Team will only be required to attend 2 competitive events, with the option to attend more if interested, but will not be required. They will be cast in the full team large group/production dance alongside the Elite Team, with the option of doing one additional smaller group dance. They will be required to take the core subjects (ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary if offered), and at least two additional classes of their choosing. They train alongside the elite competition team dancers to push themselves and work on achieving their goals.

The Apprentice Team consists of:

  • Attendance to the Technique Intensive in June, the July Summer Class Series, and attendance to the Guest Teacher Pop Ups in August.

  • Attending 2 regional competitive events.

  • Option to attend 1-2 regional conventions through which they take class from some of the industry’s leading teachers and choreographers, while also getting the ability to audition for scholarships within the convention circuit

  • Community Performance Opportunities and Philanthropy when available

  • Attendance to masterclasses, intensives, and guest workshops in the studio or at other local venues when offered

  • Placement in exclusive classes for team members only

  • Experience in mock auditions, learning audition techniques, and unique styles of dance not always offered regularly, how to improv, and how to market yourself as a professional

  • Performing in 1 large group/production dance, with the option of doing a second dance. Apprentices will not be placed in solos or duo/trios.

  • Performing in one additional production piece in the annual Revue

Audition Information for the Elite Team:

Wednesday 6/22: Pre-Teens 5:15pm-6:30pm

Thursday 6/23: Teens/Seniors 5:15pm-6:30pm

Friday 6/24: Minis (during their actual intensive class)

If a student has a conflict the week of the intensive, please notify Rachel to schedule a makeup audition, and discuss makeup training.

For the audition, students will check-in in our main lobby to receive an audition number, after which they will be led into one of the studio rooms to audition.

Attire:

Students should be dressed in solid fitted dancewear such as a fitted dance top and leggings or leotard and tights with fitted dance shorts or leggings on top. Students should wear their hair cleanly pulled back in a pony or bun and bring ballet and jazz shoes or pirouettes.

They will be asked to demonstrate skills in center and through across-the-floor progressions, followed by learning a small combination they will perform for RAVE faculty judges.

Parents of auditionees will hear back via e-mail if their dancer has been placed on team by the end of the weekend, a welcome meeting will be scheduled following the auditions based on when the most families are available to attend. Returning team members are required to audition every year. Those who are unable to attend this audition due to a conflict please e-mail Miss Rachel at raveperformingarts@gmail.com to coordinate a make-up audition. The team will be officially announced the following week!
